Our Wedding

Many love stories begin with a picture perfect meet cute. Two people bump into each other, sparks fly and everything unfolds from there. What you do not see are all the sliding doors moments and missed opportunities, that quietly shape two people into exactly who they need to be, so that, when the time is right, they fit together perfectly.Little did anyone know that their story almost began in the 90s, when both families moved to the same area. They lived only half a mile apart with just the Hagley Road between them, but their paths did not cross there.Sarah, her sister Emma and, if we are being honest, mostly their Dad delivered newspapers to Paul’s Mum and Dad’s house, but they did not connect there either.They both worked in rival pubs in the early 2000s, down the road from each other and often drinking with friends in each other’s places of work, yet they did not meet there either.From 2008 till 2012 some of Paul’s mates spent countless nights in The Flapper, while Sarah worked behind the bar and Paul stubbornly refused every invitation, wrongly thinking it was a heavy metal bar, so they still did not cross paths.They each moved to London in the 2010s, with Sarah working and Paul living, in Camden, sharing the same pavements, and they still did not meet.Then came 2023. After four decades of missed chances and almost moments, their tangled broken roads finally collided when they both downloaded Bumble at the same time. And at long last, they met.Across every decade of their lives, Paul and Sarah had enough almost meet cutes to fill an entire film. It seems the universe was saving the real one for when they were truly ready. That is when their story finally began, and they cannot wait for everyone they love to be with them at the start of their happily ever after.

Our Story

Our wedding will take place at the Badgers Mount Hotel, where we are very lucky to have exclusive use of the venue for our wedding day. While the main celebrations take place on Sunday 6th, we would love anyone who fancies it to stay a little longer, whether that’s for a second night on Monday 7th or simply to join us for a relaxed BBQ lunch and some extra time together before heading home. There is a little swimming pool on site and, if the weather is kind, we may even be tempted into a dip.

Dress Code 

We do not have a formal dress code for our wedding, although we kindly ask guests to wear typical wedding guest attire, that feels smart, yet comfortable, so you can enjoy the day and dance the night away to our band in the evening. If you are joining us for the BBQ on day two there is absolutely no dress code, so please feel free to wear whatever you like. The venue also has a pool, so if the weather is kind to us, you may want to bring swimwear.When choosing your outfit for the wedding day, it may be helpful to know that the wedding party will be wearing the colours listed below, so you may want to avoid these colours. However, you are very welcome to wear whatever you feel your best in... other than a fancy white dress of course!

Where to Stay

There are plenty of great places to stay across Hinckley, so hopefully everyone can find something that suits. Below are a few nearby hotel suggestions, and if none of these take your fancy, Airbnb is well worth a look too, as there are lots of lovely options in the area. As we’re hosting a BBQ on Monday afternoon, a few guests are planning to make a long weekend of it and stay over on Monday night as well. If you fancy another day off work, you’re more than welcome to do the same. Of course, if you’d rather just join us for the BBQ before heading home or just head stright home, that’s absolutely fine too, the Sunday is the important day. As there are only 18 rooms at the Badgers Mount, we’ve held the rooms at the hotel for the wedding party and close family on the wedding night. However, if you’re planning to stay a little longer, there may be some rooms available directly with the hotel for the second night if you’d like to join us there. This Airbnb is about a 10-minute drive from the venue, can sleep up to six people and has free parking. It has two bedrooms and a pull-out bed in the living room. The bridesmaids and the bride will be using it on the Saturday night, the night before the wedding, but it is booked for the nights of the 6th and 7th and is available if you would like to stay for both nights. The cost for the two nights is £270, and it would be ideal for two or three couples staying together or a group of five or six. If you only plan to stay for one night, that is absolutely fine as well, and I can cancel one of the nights which will reduce the cost.The only thing to note is that the bridesmaids and the bride may leave a few belongings in the living room to collect on the Monday.If this sounds like a good option for you, please contact Sarah or Paul.See below for the description from the website. Located in the village of Kirkby Mallory in rural Leicestershire, Mallories Formerly Kirkby House offers a farmhouse-style dining room serving freshly cooked food. Secure private parking and Wi-Fi are free, and the lounge area comes with leather sofas and a feature fireplace. The city of Leicester is within a 30-minute drive while Nottingham and Birmingham are less than an hour away. Kirkby Mallory race track is just 2 minutes by foot, while the popular diving location of Stony Cove and the historic Bosworth battlefield can both be reached within 30 minutes by car. All rooms come equipped with a flat-screen TV, and most come with an private bathroom. The spacious Deluxe Suite is decorated using natural colors and wooden furnishings, and features a large spa bath and fireplace, as well as a bidet. Located in Broughton Astley, Mill On The Soar occupies 5 acres of Leicestershire countryside and features 2 rivers and a fishing lake within its grounds. It features a large garden with a children's playground and a terrace, as well as an on-site bar and a restaurant. Public parking facilities are available free of charge. Rooms at Mill On The Soar have contemporary design and each comes with a TV and tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a private bathroom fitted with a bathtub, a shower and a hairdryer. A wholesome breakfast is served every morning. Fine cuisine is served in the common dining area. The hotel also proposes fireplace dining and a well-stocked bar with a variety of wines and spirits. Just 15 minutes’ drive from Leicester’s center, The Narborough Arms is friendly pub dating back to the 17th century. It offers traditional inn style rooms and features free on-site parking.
